not really No. We never asked for any certricates or services in the first place. My sol only asked if they knew the installtion company and confirmation there is no compulsory service charges.
    And they responded.

    Now buy the house!

Even if it there was a compulsory charge ( which there isn't), £100 over 5 years is £20 a year. You'll save WAY more than that in gas. Your not looking at the big picture.
I'm an installer of solar thermal systems and i've never heard of compulsory service charges, especially difficult in your case as the installers went bust! They need to have the anti-freeze checked approx every 5 years. That's all. Just enjoy the free hot water.

we have been advised in the surveyor report to empty the system as it has not been incorrectly installed some years ago and causing extra loads on some joists. hence the system needs to be drained and probably not used again, in surveyor's opinion.

Then you empty the system, lift a few floorboards, reinforce the joists, put the floorboards back, and reinstate the system.

Probably get the job done in a weekend if the house is unoccupied and the carpets up anyway.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
