Non-transferable registration mark?
I've just received the V5c form fo rmy newly purchased car. Under the notes section is states
Non-transferable registration mark.
What does this mean?
Would I not be able to put a private number plate on it?
Any help is appreciated! x

Last time i had one of those the car had been a cat D write off. You can put a personalised plate on it but you can't transfer that registration to another car.0

as scheming_gypsy basically says but i will make it a little clearer for anyone else
if it says non transferable this is because the car you have purchased was previously on a private plate and has been asigned usually the original plate if registered originaly in this country or one from the dvla broom cupboard if its an import
basically this plate stays with the car till it dies but you can put a private plate on it
sometimes a car that has been involved in an accident that is on private plates may be sold on at say copart ,the owner of the plates puts them on retention lets say to put on his new car and the bashed car goes in a compound until cleared for sale and is assigned usually the original plate, now sometimes this blips the hpi and so the damaged car comes up as hpi clear see
not a lot of people know that
that might be the opposite case with scheming_gypsies0 -
Is it also true if you had an old car and sold the plate from it but it was later re-registered it would be issued an age related plate that was non transferrable?0

Yes, the new plate assigned to the car would be non-transferable.0 -

yes another one from the broom cupboard
at one time they apparently reissued plates from cars scrapped but anomalies turned up like a friend has registered his tractor but the original plate it was on showed up as a cortina on their database (tractor been parked up 30+ years)0 -

no it wont put off buyers
dvla have teams of pygmies in their broom cupboard making sure any plate given out is of no value because if it has they try and sell em
you will read on the front page bottom if your plate is non transferable or not:)0
