money left at atm

Options
dont know if this is the right forum but am hoping someone can help me

i went to a santander atm tonight (i am a santander account holder) and made a withdrawal for £10 cash. I noticed son across the road and picked up card leaving cash

The street was really quiet when I went back over my money was not there, I wondered it the atm would have sucked the £10 back in?

I dont know whether to go back and ask at the bank in the morning as the machine I used is at the bank, or that someone must have picked it up?

thanks

I'd expect the machine to swallow it, your account to be corrected tonight and that to be the end of it.

If not, report it to the bank tomorrow.

Did you ask for a mini statement?
It might have shown the account re credited.

I used to work at a building society some years ago, and if this ever happened, the money is automatically taken back into the ATM if it is not taken away by the customer after a certain period of time.

Your account will be corrected and the money refunded.

Have you thought about checking your account online now or perhaps calling their Head Office to see if your account has been amended already?

hi, have checked and it hasnt credited back yet but have contacted the branch and have been told it can take up to 48 hours to credit

If not back in account by Monday night I can raise an ATM dispute

They did a thing on the radio the other day, they were testing how long it was before money got sucked back in on various cashpoints. It was on average around 32 seconds.

This happened to me on a Saturday evening and I wasn't using my own bank's ATM. It did however suck the money back in. I went initially to the bank of the ATM machine on Monday - they directed me back to my own bank and although it involved filling in an A4 double sided form- the money was recredited that day.

Given that you left it in the machine, and some dishonest person might have taken it, I'm not sure you would have any claim for an ATM dispute.

The OP does need to raise the issue with the bank though.

The audit system for the ATM will record whether or not the money was recovered by the machine.

If it was, fine - refund. If not, tough.

Quite agree, if the audit and records show the money was taken back fine refund presented, but otherwise....
