You just need to make a complaint saying why it was mis-sold to you. So, state the events of how it was sold and what they did wrong. You dont need war and peace. Dont make things up and dont list things that are not applicable.

Whilst the provider may only go back 6 years, if you can provide evidence going back further then they should take it into account.

    Hello and welcome

As dunstonh says, or you can complete the questionnaire to make a reclaim, as shown here.

    Rite

I spoke to a guy at capital one today who said i didnt have PPI on my account but i said my statements say i do, ( as i have been charged loads over the years),
So i asked to make a complaint an i should be getting a load of paper work through the post plus getting a phone call from there PPI department tomorrow.

This is my first step so if i dont get it sorted i will go through the Financial Ombudsman Service.

well i think a cover up is being tried .

I phoned up today an they said straight away it was not miss_sold, i replyed with " I didn't say it was an that the last guy said that i didn't have ppi on my account" she then said that "when You verified your card You asked for it" i then said that that was not possible.

so now i am waiting for a final response an il send that to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

I just found is strange how she was on the defencive straight away. And even huffed when i said that i 100% would not have asked for it.

Is it possible to ask for a copy of the phone call made in 2004 in march some time ?

I find it funny that i had an barclaycard at the same time as my capital one but barclaycard have paid me back unfair charges with no fight just a sorry .

    I really hate capital one.

I admit i was young an didn't understand much but they really take the mic.

Can i ask for copy's of things wile the financial ombudsman service are in talks with them about my case ?

Cap One does seems to be one of the most difficult ones - going by the so many posts on here of other's experiences.

There is no harm in requesting for the copy of the phone calls, but as it goes all the way back to 2004, I'm not sure if they would still have hold of these on data.
Unless of course they have mentioned anything about the details of the sale by phone for their own back up.

    letter read

Your applied for your Capital one credit card account by completing a credit card application form on the 2 March 2004. However , our records show that you did not purchase the PPI policy at this time.

You purchased the optional PPI policy via the telephone on 24 March 2004' when you activated your new card.

Can i make a balance transfer b4 my card has been activated ? because my first statement says i made one on the 23rd but my card ,so this letter says was not activated till the 24th.

I remember them asking if i wanted PPI but i am sure to the point of 100%, i said NO!!

Due to my brothers bad experiance of them not paying out when he needed it.
