Vets4Pets

I don't know about you guys, but every visit to the vets is stressful. Even if it's just for an MOT, until you know everything is okay, it's not an enjoyable time.

I have a Vets4Pets near me. Their website looks great, etc. But the waiting room fronts onto a main road - near to three pubs! So while you're taking your little baby for a check-up, or something worse, you've potentially got stalled traffic and drunken idiots gawping in at you!

Having recently seen an advert on the tv, the set-up seems the same. Is it a franchise?

I've seen the vet/owner/receptionist sitting in the waiting room when I've been walking past - but never seen a customer! They offer some great deals on vaccination, etc and I always try to support local business. And I'd probably have the best vets treatment ever as one of their valued few customers!

Two things: Firstly, why have they not addressed the issue of privacy for their customers; and has anyone used them and can give feedback?

Thanks guys.

Vet4Pets are a budget outfit, you get what you pay for - privacy for existing customers does not advertise the business to new ones. If privacy and stress are of prime concern, many practices will do home visits for an extra charge. I've heard some very negative feedback about Vets4Pets but each branch will not be the same as every other, you are best off asking around in your local area or 'test-driving' the place for your next vaccinations.

I don't know, ours are great, really helpful and friendly, thorough and not pushy. On a fairly busy road but ours is quiet when you get inside, well apart from all the pets and owners, lol!

our vets4pets have been wonderful. Given extra appointments FOC when our cat had to have all of her injections individually. Yes, they are a chain but most vets are where we are to be honest

As they are a franchise then quality will vary from place to place :(

For what it's worth the rescue we're in the middle of getting dog number2 from, one of the best branches of a national breed rescue in the country have their dogs all registered at one branch of this.

I might take them up on their cheap vaccinations deal, but my gut tells me they aren't right for me, largely because where they are and the lack of privacy. I hope they prove me wrong.

My dogs are with vets4pets. Recently one dog swallowed a massive balloon. I rang for advvice and the vet had gone home despite the fact they should've been open at least another hour and a half.

In the end I had to induce vomiting in my dog and retrieved the balloon, but I'm not happy with vets4pets and I'm looking around for another vet now.
  • Haven't yet had an issue with Vets4Pets. The vets in the practice & the nurses have been great with my gerbils & kitty.

I like the fact that they can't just charge what they want & that all services/medications are a set price. The last vets I went to were charging different amounts for the same treatment each time I took my cat.

Unfortunatly, I don't really think many surgeries are perfect & have many failings in their own right.

I guess you have to stick with what is comfortable.
  • I could be wrong but wasn't this company on panorama or another watchdog type programme before? I'm sure it's the same name. Anyway, the way they treated animals was awful and lots of their staff weren't even qualified if I remember rightly.

  • Ive made use of Vets4pets for their cheap vaccination deals but my animals are registered elsewhere for other treatments.

Having said that, one of my mogs, my ginger boy Marley, had an "oily situation" a year ago. His legs, undercarriage and tail were covered in thick black engine oil. I bathed him best I could, but was of course worried. Vets4pets were the only ones who were happy to take him in for the day and bath, shave and groom where necessary and observe for an ingestion. They charged £64 for a whole day at the vets and all of the above. I was impressed. They were professional and kind to my animal.

Its all a matter of personal experience I suppose. I have found them ok though.
