Natwest pre-approvals

Options
Just a quick query for any Natwest employees.
My girlfriend has an Advantage Gold account, turnover fairly high but money in and out fairly quickly.
Just recently I read that internal scores are updated around the first Monday in the month and she had a few hundred pounds sat in there this month.
In 3 yrs there has never been any mention of a credit card off but now when logging into online banking in the 'your messages' section there is a link to aplly for a Platinum credit card in addition to the usual bumph about Ad gold benefits etc.
Is this a general message or a sign of pre-approval?
Grateful for any replies.

its just an advert nothing more
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

If she wants a card a quick phone call will reveal all. The banks system will offer a % chance of an application being successful or alternatively advise that trying would not be in the customer's interest.

    Hmmm, you sure?

If so, tell me where this fits into "treating customers fairly".

Surely its fairer to advise the customer whether its worth them proceeding instead of putting them through an unnecessary credit check which could result in a decline marker on their credit record?!
When you get to the end of your tether, tie a knot and hang on.
