How to get small final bill when leaving EON?

I am leaving EON SaveOnline2 (Dual Fuel) for an EDF fixed.

Have been told to take readings close to the end of the 12 day cooling off period and create a bill before they freeze the online account. That way the final bill, that is not at a reduced rate, will be small.

Does this generated bill have to be paid immediately online, or can it be left to be sorted by my usual monthly direct debits?

Also has anyone paid by phone before the 6-8 weeks transfer period is finished so as to make the final bill even smaller?

Thanks for any replies. :)

    First part of your question-bill generated goes against your regular DD payments;
    Second part can't answer.....but I intend to try !!

    Thanks for the info brewerdave.

    The SaveOnline2 was quite a discount over standard tariff so I will try to pay by phone as well before the changeover. :)

    Hi i8change,

    You can produce a real time bill on your online account by entering the readings and choosing to accept the bill.

    The Direct Debit will cover it, so you don't need to make an additional payment.

    When you change supplier we would produce the final bill when the new supplier has provided the readings, if you have a Direct Debit we would claim the amount owing from your bank account, if the final bill left the account in credit this would be refunded to your bank.

    You can contact us at any time to make an extra payment, you can use the email address in my profile page and send me your details and I can give you a ring if you just want to make a payment.

    Save you the bother of calling in ;)

    Let me know if you need any more info.

    Helena :)
