student loans

my son seems to think if he doesnt finish his last year at uni and dosent take his degree then he doesnt have to pay back his loan is that true?

    a good starting point for all the info.

    hopefully your son with have kept at least some paperwork from signing the forms. he needs to get his act together as it's him who has responsibility for the loan rather than you and he's clearly listening to some random hearsay rather than checking any facts. that sounds like a potentially dangerous situation to me.

    on another note, if he's this close to the end (presumably end of second year now?), would it not be a bit of a waste to walk away with nothing? he'll certainly have to pay the money back and without a degree to show for it, that seems like a missed opportunity.
