Well guys I bought the Tesco Matrix and used it today for the first time. Excellent and althought after one shave its too early to say for sure, this shave was better/closer than any I've had with the battery powered Gill Fusion and a 1/4 of the price. This will do for me:j

I haven't used the Gillette ones for years. I use the King of Shaves ones that people have already mentioned on the rare occasions when I have a wet shave. :)

Exactly, many people discount it as it looks dangerous or old fashioned.

When in reality once you take the time, you wind up with the best shaves ever, and for a fraction of the cost.
  • I'd like to cast my vote for double edge shaving too.

You get a better shave than cartridges, it's kinder to your pocket, kinder to your skin, and it's much better for the environment too.

If you want to try it out, Boots sell an own brand razor with 5 blades for £3.79.

Tip: If you are new to double edge shaving, begin with just a single pass using a downward stroke and practise this for a week or so to master the basic technique. Take your time and enjoy it.

Check out mantic59's shaving techniques on YouTube.

PS. You could try shaving with just olive oil (I do this). Grapeseed oil is supposed to be good too.

You can get a Edwin Jagger De89bl Chrome Plated Double Edge Safety Razor + 5-pack of Derby blades. from Amazon. They are currently selling these for £16.50 though were £14.50 a few months back.

Amazon have also sold 100 Derby Double Edge Razor Blades previously for £7.90 as well.

Plenty others on there as well.

See post #8 above as well.

You could track the prices of these using camelcamelcamel or keep an eye on HotUKDeals. Worth searching HotUKDeals from time to time as well.

    Hi all,

I was pricing 4/5 blades for my battery powered Gillette Fusion and they where all around £8.00...

I don't need battery power..........never.........used it once or I don't need the inflated costs. I shave virtually everyday so a decent 2 or 3 blade razor/blade combination would be fine. I Don't care for the premium "Gillette" name.

Is there a cheapish razor/blades set that would do the job OK, maybe a Tesco or Asda branded one etc........?

Thanks in advanced for the advice.......every penny counts

You weren't actually buying the power specific blades were you?
