Has anyone used one of these. Its a plug in device which tells you the consumption of your appliances and costs about £20.Is it good value or just an interesting gadget to try. Any comments from "users" would be appreciated

It was interesting to use for a bit (SSE sent it to me), but I'm so energy saving obsessed that I decided it was wasting energy itself so unplugged it. If you're normal then it would probably help you save energy by highlighting how much things use when they are doing 'nothing'.
