No pictures in gmail

Hi hope someone can help out a senior citizen here with little knowledge of computers

I have just changed over to gmail and when I get mail I can only see the text and not the pictures. It's just a box where pictures should be.

I was with wanadoo and it was ok with them.

Anybody know what i should be doing to make that right please.

I use chrome and IE and it is the same on both.

I will have a look at those links and see if it solves the problem
