No Banking Error = No Refund ?

Hi there,
After a spate of charges that really felt like the straw on the camels back I decided to write a letter guided by the MSE step by step guide to reclaiming charges (i am in financial hardship) claiming for the last 3 years which totalled to £1580.96 in charges
I firstly recieved a letter asking for me to fill in and return an I&E form.. Thought i'd do that this weekend but alas today a letter has arrived from RBS customer care team replying to my complaint about the charges on my account.
They have said that as they give pre-advice statements in a seperate envelope to my regular statement which informs me of charges and un-arranged borrowing fees that they are unable to uphold my complaint. This is because there has been no bank error. The bank considers its charges to be fair, reasonable & transparent etc etc
They have refunded the most recent charges of £210 to my account and have kindly (!) repaid my missed loan payment with that refund which the charges swallowed.
Has anybody else recieved a letter with regards to the 'no banking error' and could anybody advise what my letter back should say? Should i address the fact they havent even recieved an I&E form from me and have already made a decision?
Any help would be much appreciated..
Thank-you!:j

Based on others responses, you won't get the last 3 years charges back.
Claims based on financial hardship are generally unsuccesful in getting anything more than about 6 months charges back, and then that is if you are lucky. There is no obligation on the bank to refund you anything, even if you are in genuine financial hardship; their only liability is to handle your claim sympatheticallly and positively"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
