Tesco Stella Artois/Fosters lager multi-buy

A warning for anyone interested in taking up this (good value) multi-buy.
The offer should be:
Any 3 boxes of either
20 x 284ml bottles of Stella Artois (normally £9.98)
20 x 440ml cans of Fosters (normally £9.98)
for £20.
This is a good promotion, as Sainsbury's are doing 2 of the Stella boxes for £20 at the moment which is more than Tesco's normal price for 2 of them!
Anyway, in my local Tesco they have (accidentally? deliberately?) placed pallets right by the entrance of:
20 x 284ml bottles of Stella Artois - marked with £9.98 and the multibuy details referring to both Stella and Fosters; and
24 x 440ml cans of Fosters - marked with "Special Puchase £13.98" and no multibuy details - but right next to the multibuy marked Stella Artois.
I picked up a mixture of the boxes and got charged £33.94 at the till - i.e. no "3 for £20" multibuy.
I complained and the supervisor knew instantly what the problem was - "Oh, you didn't get a 20 can box of Fosters".
So, beware.
Incidentally, I'm not sure how a 24 for £13.98 box of Fosters can be a "special purchase" when a 20 for £9.98 box is far better value. Sounds like a special purchase they've made just to confuse people into NOT qualifying for this multibuy.

If you define value as Beer Quality/Cost then it's an appalling offer anyway.Happy chappy0

Tesco always do this. They will put a similar item with the same name together with another on offer hoping the customer will take the dearer product and probably 7/10 fall for it. You got to be as sneaky as them.0

Just tell them you don't want it. I've done that in another supermarket with an even sneakier version - "has to be in the special box sir"0

Oh, don't worry. I made the supervisor get me the "correct" box and return the other one. I also asked her to make sure the "incorrect" pallet of beer was removed and replaced by the "correct" one - but I wouldn't like to bet any money on them having done that exchange. :@0
