Credit limit decrease by me

Ok so how does this look to other lenders if you have decreases it yourself?

    I decreased my Egg card limit from £4200 to £500 and since then in the past 2 years I have been accepted for 3 other credit cards, with limits between £4k and £5k so I guess it hasn't damaged my credit rating.

    Yeah i went to lower my limit and it had some warning about other lenders will see this on your file etc.. I think it's a sly tatic to keep you with them and it don't do no harm if you lower the limit yourself, just shows your responsible i suppose.
