fans getting worst ticket deals if booked early!

I have seen recently 3 events reducing the price of tickets at the last minute.
Alton Towers have reduced price Black Eyed Peas Concert tickets & Alton Towers Live were doing 2 for 1 this week.
The true fans have paid £55 per ticket for AT live and now they are 1/2 price - what is that?? So if you are a fan and get your tickets when they first go on sale you are so being ripped off!!

Now tickets for RIAT (Royal International Air Tattoo) next month is offering a free ticket for next year if you book now!!! So true aviation fans that booked months ago have been slapped in the face with this offer.

If ticket sales are poor it's not the fans fault, maybe the price was too high to begin with.

I know a few families that are now paying twice as much for the same events, that's just not fair! They have their money in advance and this is how they are treated.

I'll certainly look at my booking habits, but it could be risky if the event is popular.

On the flip side it would be double if you had to buy them from a tout after being sold out..

Buying tickets is basically a gamble. If you book tickets for an event that is very popular and sold out very quickly then the tickets you have are worth more you paid and if you so wish you can sell them on. If you buy tickets for an event that isn't popular then nearer the time the tickets are often offered for much cheaper prices. Its unfair but that is the way the world works.

At the end of the day nobody forces you to pay the price of tickets. You must have decided at the time that it was a good price and were happy to pay it. Obviously its unfortunate they are now available cheaper but its only the same as buying a TV and then 3 months later the TV being cheaper than you paid.

To be honest you'd have to pay me to go to a concert at AT, not in the least because I live locally and I know the absolute chaos caused by several thousand people trying to leave a venue via small country lanes. I believe the last gig they did there people were still sat on the car park at 3am so OP, I advise you to park as near to the exits as possible - yes its a longer walk but you will be grateful for it when you leave.

They must really be struggling to offer half-price entry - be grateful, the other option would be cancellation then you wouldn't get to see your show at all!

    Hi,

Thanks for the warning, but I'm struggling to understand the definition of a "true" fan.

Does it work on some kind of sliding scale, like this:

Buys tickets on day of release = true fan
Buys tickets a week after release = real fan
Buys tickets one week before event = a fan, but not "true" or "real"
Buys tickets one day before event = not really a fan at all, but might get away with being called a "reasonably interested person"
Buys tickets at the door = definately not a fan - in fact, somebody who probably doesn't even like the band/team/event and is only going because there's nothing on TV
Doesn't buy a ticket = scum of the earth

I think we need to be told so that we can look down our noses at anybody who isn't a "real" fan.
