Just so folk know what the changes are here are the existing rules
The main change as far as I can tell is the maximum weight per bag goes down from 32kg to 23kg.0 -
I recently had the misfortune to fly with BA from Miami to Heathrow (I went out on the QM2). I got the distinct impression that BA is deliberately trying to make World Traveller (economy) such an awful, cramped, ill-catered experience to force everyone to pay more than twice the fare for World Traveller Plus seating.
This is a totally cynical move further designed to push would be passengers down that route.
Well BA, it has worked with me - I will no longer travel long-haul with you !
I have travelled a lot with BA over the past few years and long ago I came to the conclusion it was actually two totally separate organisations.
1. Ground based - who were rude, arrogant and did their upmost to force passengers to fit in with what THEY wanted not what the passenger expected.
2. Air crew - people who generally struggled to provide a reasonable level of service but were on a hiding to nothing because most of the passengers were totally p****d of with the company before they boarded the aircraft.
Perhaps Willie Walsh, instead of sitting in his Ivory Tower, should pretend to be an ordinary fare paying customer and sample the third rate service his airline now provides !0 -
BA operate B747s between London and Miami, offering 4 levels of cabin service. If you want to pay ~£200 for a 9 hour flight, you're hardly going to fly in First class.
BTW - The 23Kg limit will comply with a new EU directive coming into force next year, ensuring baggage staff aren't subjected to unreasonably heavy loads.0 -

I'm not expecting to fly first class for £200. My point was that Economy (Actual fare £370) is being deliberately made worse to make people pay £800 (actual fare) for Economy Plus.0 -
Have taken 3 transatlantic BA flights in the past couple of years, all economy, in all cases I've found the staff helpful and for the prices payed (Boston @ £218, New York @ £150, San Fran @ £272) very worthwhile. I wouldn't bother upgrading to Premium Economy, though first class looks more worthwhile! Is anyone elses Economy flight really much better? The others I've taken weren't...0
