It can happen, not sure how often it does, but its possible.

If by medical you mean an atos assessment.
[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that

I was put directly into the Support Group without a medical. No idea why but I'm not complaining.............had been in and out of Hospital for months and my GP sent a strong report so maybe that's why.

So was my husband; he's been in the Support Group for 2 years without having a medical but like you we had a very strong GP's report.

We've just sent back an ESA50 form though so whether he'll have a medical this time or not we're not sure. This turned up only 4 weeks after they awarded him the same rates of DLA again without a medical. Compared to some others on this site my husband hasn't had any real problems at all.

Um no one for the WRG though. Atos haven't even asked my DR. Its wrong really they should get their point of view, before asking for you to have a medical assessment.

Reading threads on other sites people have been put in WRAG as well as in Support, without a medical, it will depend what information they hold on you and how up to date it is.

Also if you have to fill in an ESA50, make sure you go into detail, and add supporting evidence, as well as a letter from your G.P. / Consultant.

Don't they say not to send anything else with the Esa50
Forms but i think sparky is right they should talk to your Gp before asking you to attend the medical.

I didn't "physically" send anything in with my ESA50 - however, I did put a note in where I specifically asked them to contact my GP for more information. They contacted him direct for a report.

Sparky, if you send in supporting evidence with your ESA50 this will greatly improve your chances of being put in the right group.

Just make sure any added docs are secured to the ESA50, and most importantly keep a copy of everything you send.

Unfortunately in a lot of cases ATOS/DWP are not contacting G.P.'s even if you request it, so I would get your own letter/report from your G.P./Consultant, and put a copy in with your ESA50.

Also send copies to the DWP Decision Maker dealing with your claim.

    AND ALWAYS KEEP COPIES.

And send it by some sort of tracked post - they've lost at least one letter from me, I suspect two, but I hadn't registered that one.
They will take - typically around a week after it gets to them before anyone opens it and attaches it to your file.
It may be considerably longer than this before it's dealt with of course.
