Even if he only sells Everest glazing?

    What a pointless example.

I know this is old but I have to respond to this -- if he is selling Everest double glazing then you need to run away terribly fast. Everest have some of the most overpriced DG products you can find. As a rule of thumb -- £300 per window. So if you have 10 windows, that's £3k. And saying that I got my 10 windows done for £2500 a couple of years ago (after asking for three quotes -- Everest were not invited after the first time I did this).

As to IFAs, well if they don't include the benefits of low cost trackers and explain that long term means 20+ years in their sales pitch, then they are not giving you full and impartial advice, just selective advice.

Tim Hale's book (Smarter Investing) has been a damned good read for me. If I have £500k to invest I bloody well do want to do some due diligence on what is being advised.
