help - my sheets have gone blue!

I've just washed some lovely white cotton sheets along with a dark print dress, and they've come out with a bluey tinge. I've put them in a quick wash with one of those 'glo-white' sachets, but does anyone have any other advice as to how to get them white?
Thanks!

  • If they were mine I'd soak them overnight in dilute chlorine bleach and then wash again. If they are 100% cotton they should come back to white. If there are any artificial fibres it could prove more difficult.

If those don't work - keep the sheets wet because drying them can fix the dye in place.

Dylon do several dye catchers that are available in most supermarket chains. You can check which one you might need here:-

Sheets are currently soaking in a sink full of dilute chlorine bleach; the sheets are 100% egyptian cotton from John Lewis, which is why I'm so upset that they've gone blue! Hoping the bleach works, but if not I'll try Dylon tomorrow. Thanks for the advice about not drying them; if I rewash them with Dylon tomorrow, will they get smelly because they're damp?

Keep them in a bucket, or bowl, of cold water and they'll be fine :)

Oh, and make sure you thoroughly rinse the bleach out before trying the dylon if you need it.
