It was an eBay special. £5.50 I think I paid. The seller was registered in China but it was delivered from a UK address.

'Compatible' chargers can cause all sorts of problems, from death to horrible sound through headphones to not charging properly/computer running at a snails pace. Not heard of trackpad issues but would not be suprised.

The internal quality of some I have seen is terrible, quality control must be non existant, earthing and safety are an issue with some.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that

I Googled it and it seems to be a common problem with compatible chargers. At least I have found out what was causing the problem, I thought it was a fault with the actual trackpad.
