Don't buy vehicle on Ebay/Paypal as they appear to help potential fraudsters!

THIS ITEM WAS A £2500 VAN
We won the auction travelled 300 miles, found out as we were about to hand over the £2400 cash that the seller was selling for a friend and there was no log book nothing, led us to believe everything was there but there was no documentation at all for it, just the keys as Im not crazy we walked away.
I had paid £100 towards the vehicle through paypal so I tried to put a stop on it. Paypal found in the sellers favour saying that "I had to read the terms and conditions as there is no buyer protection covering vehicles". Ebay/Paypal couldn't care less - they should be made to print clearer warnings and in my opinion if paypal isn't going to take any responsibility for the deal at all, it shouldn't be in on the deals at all. They should be stopped from taking payments on goods which they do not offer any buyer protection on.
I would love to see how many times and what £ value the scammers and fraudsters facilitated by ebay/paypal made last year. The police would surely have some sort of record.
The last 3 times I have tried to either buy or sell vehicles on ebay it was went wrong. Internet car selling in relative terms to the car market is in its early stages and ebay/paypal well and truly put profits ahead of its customers.
I think legistlation is needed to tighten up for a medium which makes a large deal of money from but wants to wash its hands of all responsibilty for.

I know someone and his dad who has bought cars off ebay and not had a problem but they of course check the car out first, ask questions etc and he also sells car parts on ebay as well with no issues. So i think the title " Don't buy vehicle on Ebay/Paypal as they appear to help potential fraudsters! " a bit misleading as there are people who havent had issues.

If ebay and paypal put a warning on screen WARNING people they have enterered an area no-longer covered by buyer protection - people might make better decisions.0

Its a risk you take when buying on auction sites.
ALWAYS ask the questions about the log book being in hand etc etc.
I have bought (and sold) several motorcycles - for my own personal use - over the years and never once had a problem.
I sold my pride an joy in April as we've just bought a new house....sale went without a hitch and to be honest i find buying and selling vehicles on ebay quite easy.
We're not all fraudsters.....0
