how to ask for compensation

i need to write a letter to company as they have totally ballsed up my order,

1. gave me a delivery date and then night before called to say they dont deliver on that day(later found out to be untrue).

2. delivered item on another day but wrong item

3. were to delivere correct item on another specific date , did not turn up, also no details of this on computer when querried.

4. waited in another day for said delivery only to have to reject as still incorrect.

5. another date for delivery ,,, lets see what happens.


also i spend most of the day on the phone to them as you can never get through . 45 minuites being cut off then 30 minuites on hold and still no answer.

have asked for call backs none come.

was informed they are to call in morning to state wether am/pm deliveries , nobody has bothered to call

Question is , how to go about asking for compensation in a letter of complaint , and do i specifiy a amount or not .

sorry never asked for comp. before so unsure how to go about it.

    my tip what hardly ever fails is to ask for a call or call the company then moan for about 5 minutes and never ask for a amount of compo BUT when they offer compo laugh at the amount and say i`ll take my custom elsewere if this is no good ask to speak to the persons manager (when you speak to them ask the name of his/her manager) i win 99% of the time

    this hardly fails be it a letter or orally.

    "and by way of apology you are going to do" (and then say nothing )? (verbally to manager)

    ................after all that has happened I would like to know what you are going to do by way of apology? (letter)

    If I have a problem I always get the persons name and then I ask for their manager.

    Never ask for compensation .. always ask for a goodwill gesture ... compensation involves admission of blame whereas goodwill gesture can be offered without admitting blame

    Am amazed no one has started the usual "compensation culture" rant yet!..Must be goodwill to all men etc..
