As a guest, if I saw black tie on an invite - I wouldn't understand that to mean wear black or white. It means a dinner jacket for men and cocktail dresses/ball gowns for ladies.

I agre - when I said I went to a black tie do it was a dinner dance where the dress code for the men was dinner jacket and the women wore appropriate dresses.....but the colour specified was black or white.

I know I have ages to the wedding (11/8/12) but I think it's important to get colour scheme locked down earlier when on a budget because now I can keep my eyes peeled for bargains in my choosen colour scheme of purple and ivory. Also bought 10 big brandy glass style vases for £30 in a shops closing down sale which I'm thinking of filling with pearls and a pillar candle.

That's a very pretty dress Pinkmum, hope you're happy with it! :)

Love the sound of the brandy glasses filled with pearls and a candle, they'll look really good and £30 for 10 is a real bargain!
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

thank you the dresses suited them all perfectly from my tiny sis to my tall SIL. the shop i bought the vases from has gone into administration so I'm going to keep a close eye on other bargains there.
