Over the counter cash withdrawal limits?

How much can you withdraw daily over the counter in HSBC and Santander branches? For example say the amount is £3k...I've been told there are limits and you have to give your branch notice or something?

Santander is £500 plus £300 from the ATM. If you phone and prebook the counter amount is increased.

It tends to vary between branches, as soon as you know what you what you need, it's always best to phone up and book it to ensure they have what you in stock. The ex building societies tend to carry low cash stocks

Earlier today, I withdrew £600 cash from a Santander branch I'd never set foot in before. No questions asked - just had to show my driver's licence as well as my debit card.

I withdrew £3.5k from a HSBC branch without notification, but they needed ID and my debit card.
  • Don't expect to get more than £3k by just walking in it obviously depends on what the counter staff have in their tills, however if you book it you can normally expect the cash the next day (and probably pre-book a private room to count it in if you so wish).
No longer a student, but still paying for it!
