Not really. The Nou Camp is only a short walk from several Metro stops. It's easily done without a tour guide holding your hand.

you can also get the plana bus from salou to barca which drops you central, you then have all day to yourself.. its a bit intimidating getting public transport (IMO) as its a very busy place (I hate crowds!).. also I liked the ease of knowing when and where I was being picked up..
have done the city tour also and you are left alone to go around everywhere - the 'tour guide' stays on the bus and just gives you a map and lets everyone know what / where / other info etc in all the different languages needed.. basically its the same as using the hop on - hop off bus once there..0
