Debenhams - exchanges/refunds

I saw on another thread there was a member of Debenhams staff on here - can you help?

I went to Debenhams on Monday.

I bought

1 trousers
1 t shirt
2 shirts

The shirts and t shirt were on offer and they said that they were exchange only.. When I got home the trousers and t shirt were too small

t shirt = £10
trousers = £40

Today I went back to Debenhams and after much looking about I exchanged the above to for

trousers = £32
trousers = £40

Therefore I paid an extra £22.

I just came home and tried the trousers on and they don't fit! They are too tight.

I dunno why but I always buy the same size trousers and they always fit but it seems Debenhams branded clothing seem to have their own definition of size 34 trousers!

I know I could have tried them on but !!!! happens.

I feel almost too embarassed to go back for another try but I could be £72 down if I don't.

Question is can I ask for a full refund?

I have had a look on the receipt and it seems to say I can if the items are in saleable condition (which they are) and I have the receipt (I do).

Only thing is, the £10 t shirt was included in the exchange price so arguably some of the £72 includes money that was 'exchange only'.

Am I going to look like a mug tomorrow? lol

    There are changing rooms for you to try several sizes before you purchase!!!!!!!!! Saves all those return trips.

    Funny thing is I did actually try on a pair of trousers but they were not the ones I ended up buying.

    Annoying thing is when I go to M and S I can buy the correct pair of trousers based on the numbers alone and they always fit. I guess I have become a bit too reliant on M and S sizing guide when there are obviously variances amongst shops.

    I am sure that they will do a full refund - as the original items you did an exchange for - then added extra money to buy higher priced goods. Agree with other poster though - if you know Debenhams are a different sizing from Markies ....buy a bigger size - or try them on.
