I am with the CIS for car insurance,am 38 years old and have got 18 years no claims...never claimed on car insurance...i pay £220 a year fully comp on a 55 reg for focus.
Was going to work on friday last week when a deer ran out infront of me,i swerved to avoid it(which i did)...but unded up on the grass verge with 2 wheels going in to a kinda ditch...this cracked and and knocked front bumper out of shape, ripped and broke the undertray and damaged the radiator housing as well as the radiator...I know this is ging to be pricey to fix but as my car is low millage and good nick...i was wodering if a i claim on insurance how much no claims i would lose

Normally no NCD will be added for the year in which you claim and you go down two years from the maximum they allow you had at the start of the year. (The maximum level is usually 5/6 years - check your policy to see how CIS operate their maximum NCD)0
-
As well as lost NCB a fault claim will also increase your base premium so before doing anything involving your insurance company it might be worth running some dummy quotes on the comparison sites.
One with your current NCB and another with two years less NCB and a fault claim.
You might well find you are better of funding the repair yourself rather than involving your insurance company.0 -
CIS are good if you've been with them.
They don't allow for the 18 years I'm afraid.
But from their 9 years max it goes done to 7, 75% to 73% provided you've built the ncd with them.
If you've just moved to them it goes from 5 years max they allow to 3 years, 75% to 65%.
It sounds an expensive accident, get a quote, it'll probably be worth claiming.0 -

Thanks for the advice,i have been with the CIS for at least 8 or 9 years and i have there full no claims discount...done a couple of dummy quotes on there website just now 1 with full ncd and one with 3 years ncd and 1 fault claim...there was around £60 difference between the 20 -
You'll have to cover your excess too.
Why didnt yu have your NCD protected, its only a few quid a year.
Ive been with the Coop for absoluty donkeys years,
Never had a problem, make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

It's not worth protecting.
£60 if you ever make a claim, and that's on a loss of 2% on the ncd.
If you didn't protect it, you'd still get the £40 premium increase.0 -
I always protect my NCD, and not all insurers load premiums for one fault claim either..0

I've never protected my ncd, and I don't have any claims, so it doesn't make sense for me to use an insurer that would charge any one that has a claim the same price as someone without.0
