in Credit cards
Hi, a year ago my mum paid my deposit via her GM card which got discontinued in January.
Now I have been told that my deposit was repaid to the card that paid for it, but my mum doesn't know how to access the account and thinks she closed it when it was discontinued.
I tried to ring the customer services number on the actual card but it doesn't exist any more.
How can I get access to the account?

the money will be in GM's suspense account - customer services should have realised this and investigated it. Get your mum to ring GM, tell them that a payment has been refunded to a card which is now closed, so it may be in their suspense account and she would like a cheque sent out for it.
some companies have automated checking systems though so if they can't match the reference on the payment the payment will simply bounce back to the originator! if this is the case just ask the company to refund your deposit some other way0 -
The problem is I can't find a number, all numbers except their Rebate Points Centre seem to have been !!!! down0

which company did you pay the deposit to?0

It was to my uni, KCL0

Contact the uni, ask to speak to their Accounts Receivable department - ask them to check their ledger for a returned payment. At the same time, get your mum to chase GM to check their suspense accounts.
It has to be in one of the two!0 -

Assuming the GM refers to General Motors, if you are unable to find a contact number for GM, you could call Vauxhall's customer care number 0845 090 2045. Although they probably can't help you directly, hopefully they could advise you who to contact.0 -
GM Credit card was administered by HFC Bank. Can they help?
