refund with a faulty pram ?

my misses was wondering where she stands with a pram she bought

on the 26/8/10 pram bought
didnt use pram till the 23/10/10 when ma kid was born
noticed that when going up and down stairs that the telescopic handle starts to work its way out and this adjusts the height right up (not sure if the handle would come right out never tried it that far)

contacted shop a few months later as i started to believe that it souldnt do this as its more of a safety issue and its faulty
shop told my misses that its due to the handle being wet and its normal to do this

i still wasnt happy with that answer and contacted the maufacturer in may
the manufacturer said return it to the shop for them to collect and inspect
they collected it on the 21st of may and returned it to us
it was working fine but has started to come back out again
i believe that this could be a fault with the model and its getting to the stage im not going to be back and forward to the shop every couple of months to get this sorted

what should i do and where do i stand ?

Been told by shop staff that the prams not designed for stairs
Even though the frame is sport frame for use in all terrains
The manufacture is not repairing it due to this
I have checked the instruction manual and it says nothing about steps or stairs in there
All it was not to be used for running or skating

    I'm not happy about this
What do I do now ?
Should I contact trading standards and try persue a refund ?
What's the point in a big bulky pram that can go up and down stairs or a step or kirb without the handle comming out
If I was told this at the time I wouldnt have bought the pram

I think the problem is that Prams just aren't designed for stairs or bumping up and down them, the fact that you have admitted doing so probably means you won't get very far.

Did you specifically ask before you purchased it if it was suitable for bumping up and down steps? If you did and they then showed you that model it may be a different story.
