Can you not remove the drawer?
Often, you have to press down on the conditioner part or squeeze the sides together.
No manual for the machine?Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -

Have you put the powder in the pre-wash side? this does not get used during a normal cycle.
does the machine fill correctly
have you move the machine recently? the pipe may be kinked reducing the pressure of the water going into the tray.Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..

Don't use the drawer! Take it out, clean it thoroughly (especially behind it), then put it back and never use it again. Get yourself a couple of laundry dosing balls and put the detergent into the drum. Some people on the Old Style board even recommend adding the detergent straight into the drum before adding the clothes. You will cut down immensely on the cleaning and because you're not wasting loads of it in the pipes, should be able to cut down on the detergent too.0
