Minor damage cover

Hello
I have been offered 'minor damage cover' for my car at £199 that covers minor bumps, scratches, dents and stonechips to the bodywork for one year. Is it worth it?
doesn't sound too bad, whos it with?? I would read the small print though and see if anything crops up, especially regarding getting the work fixed if you need to claim. Is there an excess and how much, is there a limit they will do??Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
It's with Evans Halshaw. Thanks for the advice. I definately need to find out a bit more about it and I will post back tomorrow.0

I suggest you start to use google if its with them, I haven't heard a good word about that company yet. You maybe best to stick that £199 in an ISA and use that if you ever need to repair damage.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
Generally speaking any non-compulsory insurance is only worth taking out if you can’t afford to self insure.
Also check out the excess & remember that any claim made under this policy would have to be reported to your main insurance company so whilst your NCB wouldn’t be affected you can be pretty sure you’ll get a premium hike.0 -
I would expect any claims to be added to the insurance database and picked up when you come to renew your main insurance.
Failure to declare anything may result in higher premiums or cancelled insurance.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Thanks for your views all. I had no idea that it would go through normal insurance, I will make further enquiries tomorrow. I guess *really* everyone should report all minor scrapes/dents to the insurance company. No doubt you both are right though.0

yep, we all should report all minor scrapes but if you take it to a local body shop for a cash repair I can't really see any way your insurance company will find out.
If you use this minor damage insurance then it could well be they are members of the CUE database in which case you stand zero chance of your main insurance not finding out with all the trouble that can cause0 -

LOL thats what I thought. It may cost £199 for the policy but I bet it'll cost a damn site more to rectify the work after they have there hands on it LMAO :rotfl::rotfl:Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0
