HSBC - Late Payment Admin Charge

Hi - hope someone can help!

I am with HSBC and have a HSBC Credit Card (Mastercard) and on 6th December, they charged me a "LATE PAYMENT ADMIN CHARGE" of £12.00. I have tried calling but all I get is some lady saying that she can't give me a balance!

This has happened before. They stopped the card, not told me and accordingly I had to pay a late payment admin charge!

Please can someone help sort me out as quite frankly I'm pretty peeved over this and not being able to phone someone in this country is doing my head in!

Have you got internet banking? Can you have a web chat with them? Or how about ringing the international number on the back of the card?

Yeah - I do have internet banking but there is no chat facility from what I can see. I don't mean to be big headed but I work in web development so should be able to spot this if it was there and no sign of it :-(

I have tried calling - it's the same number as on the site.

There used to be a secure message facility. Are you saying it's no longer available?

I have tried calling - it's the same number as on the site.

Nope - what's that one then? The number I'm given in all circumstances is:

Its the international number on the back of the card. Might as well give it a go.

Ahh....the (un)helpful folks in Bangalore!

As you said, you are best off to go to a branch. It sounds like there is some sort of 'security' issue and thats the reason why they won't give you any info down the phone.

It's not that they *won't* as such, I don't even get the option! They say they can't tell me balance (automated reply) even when I choose options not to check balance!
