frederickson chasing debt from 2005
Hi, I received a letter from frederickson international claiming i owed for a mobile telephone bill i had around 5 years ago. I disputed it and I have just received a statement of accounts (which is a photocopy) of my apparent arrears with Orange.
Yes i did have an account with Orange, but was completely unaware there was an outstanding balance on the account. The statement of account it a mere 3 lines saying thats the amount I owe on orange headed paper - is this true and accurate. It doesnt break it down into calls or anything.
Also, I checked my credit reference and they have logged a default against me for this. Is this allowed.
Its all very distressing, im totally debt free apart from this, and im not sure whats going on.

if it was a letter advising of a debt, i doubt it would have a breakdwn of costs on it, just the overall amount of debt owed, seems like you have dropped unlucky here as well, i dont know how true this is, but from reading other posts on here, if this debt was from 2005, it must be getting pretty close to being 6 years old, in which case if they had no response from you in those 6 years the debt would have been written of as statu barred, so there would be no debt left to pay, but you have responded now, so unless you can sit quetly for another 6 years now, that rules that out, probably why this debt got sold on now just before the 6 years are up, to see if another company would be so lucky to get a response from you, and they have now, so i doubt this will go away so easily nowTake every day as it comes!!0

as far as i am aware (and i am no expert) the above post is correct about the 6 year thing but as long as you do not accept the debt and make no offer of payment (ie a payment plan) then once the 6 years is up its gone, which you are very close to now. i think they are just having a last go at getting the money before its lost forever.0
