Applying for a crisis loan

I claimed for JSA back in November (including a form for backpayment to October) but I haven't received any payments yet. I called the JobCentre line and they told me my form had been sent back to my local JobCentre twice because of an error (why didn't they tell me about this before...) So I went to the JobCentre to take a look at my form, there was nothing wrong with the parts I had filled in. My form has now been sent to the supervisor to see what the problem is, but I'm now told it's very likely I'll receive no payment for christmas...
I think I need to apply for a crisis loan, but I want to be able to claim a good amount of money (I don't want everybody hating me because I couldn't afford a christmas present for them) so could you give me an idea on what I should tell them?
P.S. I already applied for a crisis loan on 6th December and received £68 if that counts for anything.

You really shouldn't borrow money just to buy Christmas presents. All the people who matter will understand that you can't afford it this year.
Good luck with the job hunting.0 -
TBH they will probably only give you enough for a week, then you would have to apply again a week later and so on, can you not ask for an intrim payment?:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0

TBH, a crisis loan is for a crisis. The clue is in the title! The OP does state that you want the money for presents - not food. Obviously, if you have no money and no food then you have a problem. Lack of presents is not a crisis though. Family and friends should understand that you are experiencing hardship and the moment.0

It doesn't matter now, I got all my JSA owed to me back from October in by bank account today (literally just in time for christmas)
