Hello,
I use a Western Digital 500GB MyBook external hard drive to back up my Vista computer via the automatic setting on Norton 360.
When I access the contents of MyBook it details various files in numerical data form. ie. it does not itemise Pictures, Music, Documents, etc.
My question is how can I determine what is in each separate numerical file.
Thanks,
Michael

Why would you need to?
Presumably when the backup is used to restore your system (automatically) it will put everything back where you found it - and presumably, the backup files are given different names with the intention that folks like you don't go in amongst them and mistake My Documents in the backup for the REAL My Documents, and go changing the backup files!0 -
I assume what you are doing is not backing up files but actually creating a disc image which would restore your backed up drive completely. That is settings as well as files. You do not mess about with a systems image, that's why it is as you see it.
I back up files and folders as well as creating a systems image by simply copying them to an external hard drive or flash pen.0
