Landsbanki - Icesave

Am I the only person disgusted by the appalling service (?) offered by this bank? Attracted by the higher than usual interest rate I opened an account last week. It took me more than 45 minutes just to set up a direct debit! Today I attempted to make a transfer of several thousands of pounds which also took more than 45 minutes and I still don't know whether the transfer will go through as at the end of a seemingly endless transaction the screen just reverted to their home page with no acknowledgement of the transaction.
This lousy service seems to be because their computer system is overloaded as it is by far the slowest I have ever encountered on the Internet. The system is so slow my ISP have cut the line thinking that I am no longer using it at which point I have to start all over again. It locks up without warning and one can neither go forwards or backwards. I twice had to switch off my pc to 'unlock' it to allow me to continue using it.
When I emailed them to complain I was told not to expect a reply for at least 10 days.
When I telephoned them on their premium rate number I was told the queue would last for at least 20 minutes.
High interest rates are one thing but with service like this I wouldn't recommend anyone else to join!!!

I've had no problems whatsoever. The application process took about 10 minutes, and I had a username and passcode within 5 days. The initial deposit went in about 6 days after that, and I've added to the balance 2 times since.
No hitches, and no issues at all.
In the savings/investments board there seems to be some mixed feeling towards the service from them, possibly they've been a victim of their own success. My personal experience is that they are fine.

I have also had no problems with setting up an Icesave account. Only yesterday I set up a direct debit within a couple of minutes online. Sorry you have had a bad experience with them. By the way, I rang once and although the message said the wait was 20 mins it was in fact only a few minutes. Maybe they are trying to encourage people to use the internet wherever possible??0

Icesave service is appalling. Just had to hang up after waiting for over 20 minutes. It took 13 days to get an answer to an email I sent. Unfortunately this happens everytime I try to contact them and I haven't even got an account with them yet.
Satff are generally indifferent and pretty thick. Don't try to reason with them. You won't get anywhere. But this is true of almost all banks nowadays.

I've had no hassles with them whatsoever. The account application was done online in about 10 mins, I was up and running about a week later. All transactions in and out have been smooth.
I've had to ring them three times, each time I've had the 20 min message but the phone has been answered in 3 or 4 mins. And I find the staff fantastic - they know what they're talking about nad they've been able to deal with the questions I've had which clearly haven't been normal questions (non-UK resident ID etc).
Think they may have been a victim of their own success to an extent. Could the OP's internet problems have been caused by an issue with your own connection?0 -

Why are you using a premium rate number?
The geo number is:- 0191 2558377Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
No problems for me. I opened it before it was announced though so I imagine they are a swamped at the moment.0
