Firstly I think you have to be concerned that they wouldn't let you look! To me that flags up they have something to hide! I would be concerned if I had to leave my children who I wasn't happy with. Is there an alternative childcare provider you could use.

As for the DSi, I'm afraid it is your sons / your responsibility, that's why most places discourage expensive gadgets being bought in, for that very reason. You could try and make a claim on your home insurance if you have cover, but you would have to first report it to the police to get a crime ref number.

you allow your son to take and expensive gadget to school club, your son leaves it there, you forget to pick it up and its someone elses fault???

I'm very glad our school club have policies that say no toys - let alone anything as expensive as that!

Its very hard to prove anything, personally I would double check he had everyday when being picked up (do similar things with my nephew who is always losing stuff).

Maybe its a scam by him to get a 3DS...

Report the theft to the police, let them investigate as you are clearly too angry to do so. Kids clubs are an opportunity to learn, socialise or exercise; playing with gadgets makes it a babysitting service. The DSi belongs to your son or you, and you both failed to take care of your property. Would it be the council's fault if you'd left it in the street or the Tesco manager's fault if you left it on the chiller cabinet?

Really to be totally honest without getting into the rights and wrongs of taking a DSi to a kids club, somebody else shouldn't have taken it and that's that. The staff should have put it away safely for collection the next day, or that's what you'd hope would happen.
