used my card with old name

Hi , I am not sure if I am on the right forum but I will explain my question and hope someone can help.

I recently got divorced and some of my new cards have come through as I have gone back to my 'old' surname. I made an appointment in what was my married name as it was false of habit , but used my debit card to pay which had my married surname on the front. They accepted it but I also had to sign the recipt after putting pin number in , they said it was because i took my card out too soon...which I probably did.

Is it me or did they think i wasnt the owner of my card because of the 2 names?

Don't think it will matter as she didn't say anything, just until you get the new card it might be an idea to use your old sig if you need to sign again perhaps?

So you paid on a chip&pin terminal. There's no way for the chip terminal to know your name (current or former), so there's no chance it was caused by that. If you remove the card too early, it may appear that it's faulty (or the buttons are failing), and some terminals offer to proceed with a signed transaction.

They should not be used for more than 5 years now, but occasionally it still happens if the operator choses the wrong menu. It certainly wasn't because the operator wanted to do it, perhaps out of suspicion - if anything it's in their best interest to keep all transactions chip and pin, as that actually limits their liability in accepting forged cards.
    Enjoy the silence...

Its easily done. I kept calling myself by my ' married' name for quite a while after my divorce.
