Safari: Problems logging on to financial websites

Since yesterday I have had problems using my iMac (OSX 10.6) logging on to HL share dealing site, another 2 bank sites and also O2.co.uk. But others appear to be working fine.

It doesn't matter whether I log on by entering the details manually or whether I do so by using the 1Password programme.

If I try logging on to the same sites using Firefox then it works fine.

Maybe I have messed up some setting myself but have no recollection of doing so (comes with age!)

If anyone can suggest a remedy to sort out my Safari browser, thanks in advance

You need to describe the "problems". What are they? How did they manifest? What was your activity when they occurred? Can you take some screenshots showing the error messages displayed, etc.

Sorry, I should have given more details

I enter the correct user name & password, press log in button but then it takes me back to the log in screen with a message that says I have failed to enter a user name and/or password (like I had left both fields blank)
I have tried clearing history, cache, deleted the log in keychain even though the log ins for these sites were not in the keychain (I have only used 1Password for storing password details since I bought this iMac) Mostly I just enter the log in manually anyway.

I did delete Safari last night and reinstall it but all the original settings were still there including bookmark bar etc. I have looked on Apple help site and a couple of similar posts were there but followed answers given, but not resolved it yet.

Would it work if there is some way of getting safari removed completely including all its settings like bookmarks etc, and then reinstall it again?

Just got it sorted...

I had just about given up and had tried using a guest account to log in to same sites and that worked.

My last resort under my own steam was to disable the Safari Extensions list I had, there were only 5 of them Adblock, Translate, Awesome Screens, Safari Restore and Bing Highlights.

Then it all went back to normal, so I was going to delete the Extensions one at a time. First one to go was Bing Highlights, then tried logging in again to affected sites and there was no problem.

Got Safari back now, prefer that browser as it works well with 1Password and the Adblock keeps it looking clean.
