Agree with this. May be wise to check all details first as you may just be storing up trouble for the future if you cannot meet their needs.

you agree with it but the OP still hasn't said who's telling her that she can't have flexi time. So you're agreeing that the company might want somebody to work those hours when they probably don't even know she's asking if they can be flexible one day a week.

Having spoken at lengths with my husband I declined the job offer this morning. We felt that the company need an employee to be more flexible with their hours as they deal with alot of USA clients for shows etc. We can not always guarantee that and explained that my husband works in the police and has set shift patterns and only have childcare to 6pm daily so could only work late when he was around. I spoke with the agency yesterday and they were again speaking with the employer who said that they would not agree the hours changed just for a Thursday and needed someone who could be flexible.

To the person who stated that I need to read the job descrip fully and know what the emplyer is looking for - I did and got offered the job. From the job advert, what the agency told me and what I gained from the interview I was under the impression that this need to be flexible due to working late was not a be all or end all and that it would only be on an odd occassion. Since the job offer itself thier requirements have somewhat changed. Rec agency and emplyer knew clearly that I only have childcare up until 6pm daily unless dh was off.

My dh and I felt that at this time the job was not for me. we didn't turn it down purely because they couldn't allow me to leave 30 mins ealry for swimming. It was based on the swimming, flexibility and the job benefits. We toyed with the idea of starting the position until I got something else but that would be unfair on the employer.

Thanks for all your advice to date.:T

Fair play to you for being brave and opening the oportunity up to someone that is more sitable towards the position.
A lot of people on here may slate you and do the 'a Jobs a job' ting, but at the end of the day, its hard work trying to be a mum and work at the same time, and you need to find a balance that you're happy with.
If you have the financial support from your husband to keep your options open, then keep looking, Im sure the ideal opportunity isnt far off and good luck in the future xx
