I have a nw laptop currently protected by avg, adware se personal, spybot s+d and spybot keeps finding the spyware that takes out windows firewall by guess this means it becomes useless. Is there any decent free firewalls you can get as I want and if so can you tell me what they are or post a link.
Thank you

Try Zonealarm - I've been using this for a while and it's far better than McAfee's firewall. I think it's https://www.zonelabs.com0

Sygate Personal Firewall is a very effective firewall, with an Intrusion Detection System and full Two-way activity scanning. Although Zonealarm, linked to in the first reply, is widely considered to be a much better free firewall.0

I've found Kerio very good (http://www.sunbelt-software.com/Kerio.cfm) - you get a 30 day free trial, and at the end, you can either buy the full version, or stick with the trial one, which then just downgrades itself so you don't have all the bells & whistles, but still protects you (see further down that screen for the differences).0

Hi - have a look at adding MSWindows defender to your system - another freebie.
You may also want to run MRT.exe via Start >> Run... >> mrt.exe - This is MS Malicious Software Removal Tool. It should be on your system already via the automatic updates.
And of course work thru the spy/malware removal thread instructionsRich people save then spend.
Poor people spend then save what's left.0 -
Yeah, the spyware that you mentioned does sound like a serious problem. If you're not sure which website is giving you the spyware, install SiteAdvisor by McAfee to get indications of what websites are bad.0

And how do you define "better than".
Is it easier to use for the average user or it is more secure and offers better resilence to a wider variety to threats and if so which ?NURSE: "Shouldn't it be sterilized, doctor?"
DR. BENWAY: "Very likely but there's no time."0 -
I thought I'd read that ZoneAlarm can conflict with AVG Antivirus ?
That's why I've got the Kerio firewall.0 -
Zone alarm sounds best has any one had problem runnig it with avg or is any one running it with avg is so I'll avoid it or use it0
