Seller is ill....

(I really didn't know what thread title to give)
Am in the process of buying a house. My solicitor was waiting a while to receive paperwork from buyer's solicitor. So I rang up the agent and was told that the seller had a stroke, and therefore obviously unable to sign/check papers. However my solicitor has told me that she received contract papers today & has started the searches. The seller is not in a chain and has already moved out of the house. I have every sympathy for the seller but I was wondering what would happen if the seller's condition deteriorated? If say for example, he gave Power of Attorney to someone else? Or if he passed away before I had the keys to the house? I do not mean to sound selfish - and have told the EA that I am in no rush and understand that the process will now take longer.

it could take a while.
someone might have to get POA, and if the worse happens, then it will be an issue for executors/probate - and might not be top on the relatives list either.0
