Getting bank statements for a closed account

I currently have an account with the Halifax. I previously had an account with them which I closed down. I now need statements for the closed account. I rang Halifax and got a dizzy girl on the phone who sounded like she was eating and she said that I couldn't have historical statements.

Did you try ringing back? Every company has the odd numpty on the phone. If you rang back you'd probably get someone else who could assist.
Alternatively, put your request in writing, ensuring you quote your closed account details, or as much supporting information as possible if you no longer recall the account details.
Banks keep statements for 6 years, so anything older than this won't be available. Before you ask, yes, I work for a bank, but no, I didn't get a bonus!0 -
Following the last post you may be asked to pay for old statements.
Is there a particular reason you need them now?
Are you looking for a particular transaction? If so they might be able to look for that instead of printing all the statements for you.
Failing that you can do a statutory access request but will cost you £10.0
