I have a Hoover WDM 130 Washer Dryer
It packed in a while back when it began jumping around. i remember the repair man filing some carbon inside it or something and it worked till today. Now its doing the same thing. Its also struggling to turn and making loud noises. It has some black dust underneath it also which i can only assume is the carbon again? I have looked for bra wires etc but nothing in there. I'm not emptying the filter as its got quite a bit of water in it as i stopped it half way through a cycle.
I have looked at a price of a new motor they are £99!!
Can anyone advise as what i should do? Is the part easy to fit ?
Any help would be appreciated.
Kevin

the "carbon" may be rubber from a fraying drive belt. this will have the effect of the motor not appearing to work. particularly if it has snapped.
Have you tried setting the program to drain the water? this will ebnable you to at least open the door and retrieve your washing.
A new motor should not be especially difficult to fit in itself, should be three wires, and a couple of mounting bolts, that said, they are quite often awkward to got to.Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..

Thanks for the advice Syman
The belt is still intact and the carbon filings were below the motor.
I have done a bit of research by googling about here and there and I believe the problem is with the Carbon Bushes (they are very worn) and last time the guy came out to it all he did was file them down and put them back in.
So i checked price of new carbon bushes and they are about £7 each. I was talking to gf dad and he said that they aren't simple to fit however.
Still don't know what to do. Do i fork out for the carbon bushes or scrap the whole thing and buy new / 2nd hand.
I dont think our washer has a drain program.

Would it not be wise before buying new bushes to remove the bushes in the machine give then a file down as the engineer did (assuming there is enough left on them) then try the washing machine to confirm that the bushes are indeed the fault !0

Yes it would be wise quite right but right now i dont have the tools to get into the motor to get the carbon thingys out. I will try that when i get hold of the tools tomorrow of gf dad. Thanks for the help
BTW great screen name one of my all time favourite films! A true classic comedy.
