Cat seems worried about losing kitten!

Just wondering if my cat's behaviour is normal, really.
She seems to panic slightly when her 11mo kitten goes out of sight, even for a minute. It's really cute actually: she always runs to find him when he's gone into another room, and calls to him in a weird high pitched voice I've not heard her use in any other situation.
She also hates it when he goes anywhere near the front door. Sometimes, she will do the calling thing, run up to him and actually carry him back in her mouth even though he is way too big for that now!
The thing is, two of her kitties died when they were born as they fell down part of the shed she was sheltering in and she couldn't reach them to feed them
I suppose I wonder if this may have something to do with it.
Thoughts?

Sorry, this isn't answering your question, but I couldn't not ask...! Could you not rescue those kittens when they fell? Or wasn't she your cat, then?

KiKi' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -
She was a stray at the time! Sorry, thought it was obvious from context.
No, wasn't sure! But poor thing.
She may well be anxious because of losing her little ones, but she'll probably grow out of it as cats don't tend to 'parent' for that long. Have you tried giving her some small toys to cuddle up to and 'look after'?! I can't think of anything else constructive to suggest, sorry.

My cats are very aware of age even at 21/2! They don't baby him, but he gets to eat first etc.0

My cat, Neko, is like that with our dog, likes to be within eye contact. She sleeps with him, and comes out for a walk morning and night. People stop (cars as well as walkers). She yowls when she can't see him.
We went on weeks holiday, leaving the dog at his parents, just around the corner. His sister came around everyday to our house to feed the cats. Neko followed our car around to his parents when we dropped off the dog, and stayed there until we came back. She was thrown out and told to go home several times (only a few doors away), she sat on the window and yowled until she was let back in.
She will dissappear off for a couple of hours on her own, but yowls and gets very distressed if she can't find the dog as soon as she comes back.0 -
Are they both neutered now? Aside from the breeding angle (which you are obviously aware of!
), sometimes coming home smelling of the vet and/ or having to be separated so stitches are not groomed out helps loosen bonds. You might try a Feliway diffuser (cat pheromones) to reduce mum's anxiety. Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
Hi I have two cats (turned one a month ago) they are sisters and
They never leave each other. The smallest one is a bit brave and sometimes wanders about about on her own but if the other one miaows she runs straight back to her and then they will wander about together. I have never seen them in separate rooms they are always together.0 -
Aw, interesting to see this is fairly common. How funny they can be like this with dogs, too!
She's been doing it again this morning -even eating her breakfast she stopped to call loudly to the kitten 2 or 3 times as he was playing in the next room while she was eating. Amazing really, I never realised cats cared so much about each other they would interrupt their food in this way!0 -

Hormones are very powerful things!
If there was not a biological imperative to mate and another to nurture the young, the domestic cat would have log since died out. This is going on longer than usual, but if she was feral mum would have long since been pregnant again and evicted earlier litters. Are they both neutered? Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
yes, it's pretty common. I remember a female cat of mine years ago who was the same.
Really want to get a new kitten, anyone got any ideas which websites are best for photos/adverts?
I've been to the RSPCA shelter today for the nth time, but they don't give out any information, although they had lots of kittens in. I think it would be quicker to adopt a child
