You don't get cashback on credit card. If they offer it, they're probably fudging it as a purchase (as Wilkinson's appear to do), so no.

Sainsburys Local always offer me "cash back" on my MBNA card....I decline with a polite no thanks as I assume it would be the same as cash.

If you did say yes I suspect it wouldn't work. The cashier is on 'auto pilot' offering it rather than reading the screen prompt which in this case wouldn't be there.

I worked in a supermarket while at Uni (13 years ago) and was told off for giving someone cashback on a credit card once, iirc it just goes through as a purchase.
  • I work at T. Cash back not allowed on Credit Cards, the checkout software does not allow it to be applied. Amazed at how few use credit cards though. I would easily say that 99% of card transactions are debit.

I am amazed at this as well ! I always use my credit card unless a Debit card is the only option - and even then I have to satisfy myself that I am dealing with a "reputable" organisation.

    Much, much safer !
