You never mentioned that before. What exactly has happened recently? (missing files, viruses, new programs etc)

Tuesday evening when used it again after the visit to gumtree noticed it was going very very slow and wouldn't load any pages if more than 4 windows open.
Tried System restore, and wouldn't do it, tired so went to bed.
Wednesday did virus scans and found the one mentioned earlier, thought that was it then tried to use google and found I could only write at the start of the search box, wouldn't let me move the curser anywhere else.
Tried rebooting and noticed that after I've logged in it goes blank and then continues loading....Had that before and always been a virus somewhere.
    Tried trendmicro housecall, access denied,
Tried system restore again and same thing unable to do it.
Then did lots of scans (the ones rec on here) and all turned up blank.

Then I came here and whilst typing my son has just told me he also visited his hotmail account and clicked on an email from a friend who has had viruses before but remembered only after clicking on it:mad:

Might not even be malware related. Have you had any blue screens?

You could give Hitmanpro a go, they've updated it recently:
    http://dl.surfright.nl/HitmanPro35_x64.exe

Easiest solution might be to backup everything, wipe the hard drive, then reinstall from disc. Look up how to do FIXMBR from the Windows install disc, in case anything is hiding on the master boot record of the hard drive as it'll still be there after you reinstall.

Well I cant see anything in the log
Have you tried a full scan with Avast?

Id recommend to run the FREE version of DR WEB
    http://www.freedrweb.com/download+cureit/?nc=t&lng=en

    Turn your anti virus OFF
Click CANCEL to its first question (Unless your happy to lock windows until its run)
Click NO to opening the purchase page
    Click START
    click YES
    It will auto QUICK scan
Pess the STOP button on the right (Unless your happy to quick scan first)
After that set to COMPLETE SCAN the computer and press the 'play' icon
This will more than likely take hours (12 is average!), so leave running overnight or whatever

***DO NOT UPGRADE TO FULL VERSION***

reset the HOSTS file if it asks you
