Thanks for that.....I will print off what you sent and give it a go next time I go over to see her, will also buy an earthnet cable as back up just in case.....its driving me crazy she keeps ringing me up to tell me its gone down again, as if I can do anything from here, not a techie anyway, learnt what I know by ust using a computer now have 2 desk and laptop..........adictive isn't it..............by the way the firewall is the XP one I think I installed AVG anti virus for her, which has worked fine......it came with Norton, but having had problems with that myself I uninstalled it..................

there is an ethernet cable in the box that comes with the hub

the HUB also has a firewall built in...additional to the Xp one

make sure the hub is plugged into the main bt socket and not an extension i had the same problem when my hub was connected to my bedroom extension

The hub is plugged into the main socket not an extention, the cable that comes with the hub uis not long enough to allow her to carry the lap top round the house if we have to resprt to using the cable, I think a 10m one will be long enough but I need to talk to her first........
