Regualar "Gambling" winnings effect JSA?

Hi,
I recently started to claim JSA
Can I regularly cashout poker winnings without it effecting my benefits?
(I know that it is non taxable).
Or should I wait to cashout untill I have found employment (Although then my expenses will be coming out of an overdraft with interest
)
Thanks for any replies

AFAIK you should be able to cashout without it affecting you unless it takes you over the savings threshold.
Although my experience with a gambling ex is that the cashouts wont be all that regular. I don't mean that to sound judgemental, but think very carefully about the problems you could face if you don't keep winning, over on DFW there's a lot of people that got into a gambling trap and downward spiral.
The casino always wins in the end.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Are you on JSA-Income Based? That'd mean there's a £6,500 savings threshold. You're expecting to cashout over that? If you're on the other JSA (contributions), you don't need to worry for the 6-months (max) you're on it.0

Thanks Guys
Yes Income Based and it won't take me over the £6500 threashold.
Ames Im not worried about that, for the last 2 1/2 years I have never made a deposit and have cashed out between £200-£500 a month usually in the months that I have played (when not to busy at work etc) although it is only now that I am signing on
I am not a professional gambler
Anyone know if there be no problem as, although the amounts I take out vary considerably and are not on any set day, I have had fairly regular cashouts (Ie a regular payment into a bank account)???0 -
How the heck someone can gamble with a lousy £65 perweek and still survive is beyond me!0

As he explained he isn't.
I play poker at a few of the sites, FTP, PS and 888 and have deposited a total of $10 on 888 and FTP, and got a free $50 on PS. My PS account is the one where I make money, and regularly take out a couple of hundred quid if I need it and there isn't a large buy in tournament!Per Mare Per Terram0 -
Its not hard you deposit $10 get $50 free. Send the $10 to your account and then use the $50 to gamble and hopfully you win xD0

You don't even need to deposit money anymore, there are a few websites that give you a free $50 bankroll if you do their quiz!
I know a friend who is awful at poker, but managed to make that amount last the whole year buy doing silly low buy in tournament and small stakes tables, good value for money in my opinion!Per Mare Per Terram0 -

If you are claiming income based JSA then you have "income" so therefore you benefit should be reduced to allow for that even to the point of zero.
How they would ever find out is a different matter, could just transfer to a friends account and let them withdraw, then there is no paper trace.0 -
