new house to us and new garden that was over run with ivy. We have sliced it back and some plants have popped up, most i have identified but one in particular is eluding me. I have no idea is its weed or something worth trying to keep but ivy is starting to grow back around it so I want to know before i decide if chemical warfare is an option against the ivy

It's a type of cranesbill geranium. Possibly johnson's blue?
ETA: Actually, it might be 'Rosemoor'

You can dig them up and move them or split them into smaller clumps which will grow large again. Bees absolutely love them. When the flowers start to go over cut it right back immediately and you'll get a second flowering. We have one either side the front door and others growing at the back all originating from one plant.

yes a Geranium, I have lots of them and after flowing I cut them back to the base and new foliage appears, you might get a second flowering. You can do anything you want with these, they are hardy, you can dig them up and split them, it refreshes the plant. I have lots of different kinds in different colours, they are my favourite garden plant.:D

Sorry DJohn I have just repeated most of what you said!
